Mod about it

Mod style mock turtle neck tunic skinny jeans
More and more I find myself adapting the style of different eras. Today's outfit of the day is very mod channeling the sixties! When I did a school project we had the sixties and I had to dress the part. I researched many style icons of the era. Including, but not limited to; Jane Birkin, Jackie O., Audrey Hepburn, and Françoise Hardy. Of course there were many other women who rocked the mod/free-spirit look, these women are just some of my favorites. After this project I found myself picking out pieces that had that mod look to them. The sixties were a time of women showing that they could wear whatever they wanted. They broke a lot of rules that were set, and did not care. There is the classic sixties look that Audrey, Jackie, and Françoise embody. Then there is the more free spirit/ rocker style that Jane and many others embodied. To sum up, the sixties changed how women dressed in the generations to come.

Wish Bear

We all have an item from our childhood that we just can't seem to part with. Maybe it is a blanket, stuffed animal, t-shirts that don't fit and so on. For the longest time I tried to keep many of the memories from my childhood. The point being we all want to keep a part of our innocence, a time where there were no worries. That is why I really do love this jacket from Reformation and was drawn to it. Maybe it is because I don't want to grow up, and it lets me be a kid when I wear it.

Cable knit+ Fur Sweater

Today's outfit of the day is kind of street style inspired outfit. This mixed cable-knit and (faux) fur sweater is easy to throw on to create that street style look. Turtlenecks are also really great layering pieces in the winter, and colder spring days.

Girly Gingham

Today I went out and got lunch with my friend. It was a surprisingly warm day in California for Winter! So I layered my outfit with a plain white tee, and a gingham vest. I really love vests like these because they are so easy to throw on with plain shirts to add a little something to an outfit.

Borrowed From the Boys

Today I went out shopping for a birthday present for my friend, and to return some things. I always layer up when shopping because if it is cold, I will be warm, but if I get too warm I can take off my jacket! It is a win-win situation. This look is kind of "borrowed from the boys" with the herringbone coat, and classic striped button down. This is one of my go-to classic outfits to throw on!

Jacket: Forever 21 (and it's on sale in stores too!)

Hope you liked my outfit of the day!

Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity: My favorite Golden Globe outfits

Tonight, as you may know, was the 72nd annual Golden Globes! I have always loved the red carpet events because of the amazing outfits. So let’s just jump to who I thought were the best dressed…

For me, the top outfit of the evening goes to Emma Stone, wearing a Lanvin Jumpsuit with a luxurious bow train. I love how chic, classic, and simple her outfit is.  Just everything about her is perfect.
Next is Julianna Margulies in a beautiful brocade Ulyana Sergeenko Midi dress. I love how elegant she looks with simple black pumps, and a simple diamond necklace.
Jenna Dewan Tatum looked stunning in a yellow chiffon Carolina Herrera gown. The ruffle detailing and gold clutch were gorgeous together. I think this color looks great on Jenna and the cut was very flattering as well.
Obviously Jennifer Lopez looked sexy in her beaded Zohair Murad gown. I love this dress because of the different flair on it with the cape like arms and back. The deep plunge and the slit in the front adds some sexiness. This dress really shows off her beautiful curves.

Sienna Miller also donned a deep plunging dress by Miu Miu. I love the simple elegance of this dress, with the gorgeous detailing on it. The peachy pink satin gives that luxurious look, while the deep plunge makes it sexy.
Allison Williams was another who rocked the red gown on the red carpet. Allison is wearing a strapless, textured gown from Armani Prive. I adore the texture of her dress, as well as the little sparkly detail it has. Very chic and glamorous, especially with her slicked and curled hair.

Last, but not least, is Chrissy Teigen wearing a gorgeous long sleeved Zuhair Murad from-fitting dress. The cut of the dress looks gorgeous and shows off her amazing body. The peak-a-boo detail adds some intricacy, and her messy pony gives an effortless look.

Overall, the trend I noticed was simplicity. As Thoreau once said, “Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity.” That is what I love about all of my favorites… Their looks are all elegant and classic, with a simplicity that looks effortless.  Alas, there were so many gorgeous women there that I could not possibly fit into this post! Let me know who your favorites were in the comments.

Fur + Plaid Winter Outfit

Fur Vest Boyfriend Jeans and Plaid

During winter the fur (faux of course) comes out from the back of the closet, and the plaid shirts are worn almost every day. I love this classic winter look because it is easy and comfy, while still being put together. This plaid top is great because it is a chiffon material with ruffles at the bottom, which adds a little something different. When wearing pieces that are more casual, I like to put on a glitzy necklace to bring the look all together. Winter also gives me an excuse to wear red lipstick all the time! Hopefully you enjoyed this little post.

Staple Saturday Article from Thatsoceleb.com

Cold bitter winds, or cool summer nights chunky sweaters can keep you warm in any season! Cream or white chunky pullover sweaters are a staple because they are easy to throw on with a necklace or a scarf, plus white goes with pretty much everything. For the summer you can throw it on with a pair of shorts and flip flops. Chunky sweaters are easy to use for layering, for example you can put a plaid shirt under one and have the collar peek out. Open chunky sweaters and cardigans are good too because they can be thrown over a shirt or long sleeve and will keep you warm on those chilly days. Pictured above are ways to wear chunky sweaters. They can be found really anywhere. Cheaper stores are Forever 21, Target, and Old Navy. Medium priced stores are Urban Outfitters, Pacsun, and Gap. Higher range stores are Topshop, Acne, and Brandy Melville (Although some are cheaper than others). Hopefully you enjoyed this weeks Staple Saturday!

Casual Senior Portrait outfit

Pose by xoxopeyton

I recently took my senior portraits. I put a lot of thought into what I would wear for the setting that I was taking the pictures. My photographer is a natural light photographer and the fall California sunset is the perfect backdrop. We took the pictures on the hiking trails that I love to hike on with my mom.

One of my outfits was a casual sweater tank and brocade shorts. I was a bit apprehensive to wear a neutral color on top, but I really liked the pop of color in the shorts. I decided to wear a necklace with a contrasting pop of color. It all ended up coming together nicely.

There is an app that I like to use called "Pose" . I post my OOTD on this sometimes. I loved the pictures that were taken, and my photographer went above and beyond, since she loved all the pieces I put together, she decided to take pictures like a fashion shoot. I loved that I could use these as my OOTD. I decided to put this outfit and one other using this app. I was surprised to get a notification that this outfit was chosen to be featured!

Now I wish that I always had a professional photographer (or a good hobby photographer) to take my outfit pictures. So much better than the pictures I take in the mirror.

So, if you are into style and outfits, I say give this app a try. I love that you can even access on a computer, and I love to see what others are wearing and tweak the look to my own style.

Pose or go to Itunes and download the app.

Iridescent Clothing & Accessories Trend

Futuristic and fun, the holographic/iridescent trend it taking the fashion world by storm. Shiny material that looks like it has a million different colors. It matches with everything! It can be casual and cool, or bold. The more casual items are nail polish, shoes, and bags. Clothing items that are holographic or iridescent are a little more risky and bold. Urban Outfitters has a lot of items that follow this trend. Nail polish is the easiest and cheapest way, it is there but not too bold.  Tennis shoes can be found in H&M stores everywhere, and oxfords can be found at Pacsun. Go try out this trend if you are feeling bold!

Comment below if you have or will give this trend a try.

Trend: Quiltied Pattern

A couple days ago while I was back to school shopping I noticed a cute trend! If you have ever seen a Chanel bag you may have seen their signature quilted pattern. Well a lot of items now have this pattern on them! The cutest thing I saw with this quilted pattern would be leather jackets, jeans, boots, and bags. Last year Burberry had a very beautiful quilted shoulder moto jacket that many celebrities had. This year I found a very similar one at H&M for $50! H&M also had quilted jeans and bags too. If you want to try out this trend try checking out Forever 21, H&M, Urban Outfitters, and Pacsun. Just type in “quilted” in the search bar and see what you can find!

I just love Brandy Melville clothes. They may not be for everybody since they are one size fits most for the tops. This striped sweater is one of my favorites, cozy and classic.

Hi, my name is Peyton and I am addicted to clothes! There, I said it.

I love putting outfits together, trying not to wear the same outfit more than once. Any outfit can be changed up with a few accessories, or just change out the shoes.

Here is just one of the many outfits I like to put together.
